Her hair is soft and her eyes are, oh, so blue. This is one of Maia's most favourite Elvis Presley songs from her first three months of existence. The performance is mine. The picture shows one of the very rear occasions of myself singing with my new guitar for Maia. In the majority of cases I would be doing this acapello - without an instrument, voice only.
Maia's definite preference is for Elvis songs. Probably the melodies and the smooth voice I am trying fascinate her. Other than that, I have been trying to come up with Bulgarian songs - that is my language niche. The best I could come up with is a Shturtsite song - "You are the happiest girl / I know everybody loves you / maybe even I love you too" or something like this, in a rough translation.
Maia definitely likes singing. Emese also contributes to this with a series of lovely Hungarian baby-songs, of which I understand no word, but really enjoy the sound. Actually Emese sings quite well - a wonderful discovery after 4 years of life together.
Often I have used Maia's passion for songs in the mornings, while still in bed. Maia wakes up early, and it is Emese who normally keeps her entertained and well fed apparently. But at some point Emese leaves the room and then I realize the presence of a noisy complaining young lady next to me. Singing for her is one of the few things I am capable of doing in these first moments after being awoken - and I have to say gladly she seems to enjoy it. That gives my brain some time to reactivate, while my mouth, vocal cords and lungs are already working
